The Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) check test has been replaced with a new standards check from 7 April 2014.
This new check will assess how well you meet the National standard for driver and rider training, which is why it’s being called a standards check.
The aim of the standards check is to assess your ability to instruct and whether your instruction helps a person to learn in an effective way.
The standards check will be conducted with a driving examiner observing you delivering a normal 1 hour lesson and here at Coles Driving Academy we can assist you with being ready for this check by training in the latest methods, skills and styles to ensure that you obtain a high grade. The grades are A, B and Fail, Score 0 - 30 - Unsatisfactory performance “FAIL” 31 - 42 - Sufficient competence demonstrated to permit or retain “B” 43 - 51 - A high overall standard of instruction demonstrated “A”
If you score 7 or less in the Risk Management section the standards check will be deemed substandard and a Fail. Also, if the examiner believes your behaviour is placing you, the pupil or any third party in immediate danger they may stop the lesson and record an immediate Fail.
